Mariana Pitic had graduated from the Law Faculty of the Moldovan State University and took her first job in a court in 1996, as a registrar in the Botanica Districtual Court and then at the Economic Circuit Court in the capital. Five years later she returned to the Botanica Districtual Court as an intern judge and in 2003 the president appointed her as a judge at the Hincesti Districtual Court, for five years. Yet just one year later she earns a job transfer to the Central Districtual Court in the capital. In 2016 Mrs. Pitic earns the Parliament’s ticket to work at the Supreme Court of Justice until her regular retirement age of 65.

The same year, 2016, Mrs. Pitic captured media attention with pictures of her luxury car - a Porsche Cayenne for just 11,000 lei (some 600 USD) as she mentioned in her tax books. She claimed the car in her possession was a swap deal: a damaged 10,000-lei BMW X5 for a damaged Porsche Cayenne. The National Integrity Authority (ANI) looked at the matter but found no wrongdoing in that deal; instead ANI stated that the judge failed to disclose information about an apartment and a Lexus sedan in possession on lease conditions. Nonetheless she was cleared of responsibility for the reason that the offense “was committed without any intention of doing so.”

During her career Mrs. Pitic acted as a department chief and member of the board of the National Justice Institute, and for a short period held the interim management of this institution. In July 2019, at the request of then Justice Minister, the High Council of Magistrates sacked Mrs. Pitic from the board of the National Justice Institute, along with other three officials.
