Vasile Marcuta

An economist by training, Vasile Marcuta’s first job was the engineer-economist at a cannery factory in Nisporeni. He later acted as a chief accountant at the Nisporeni district hospital, following 25 years dedicated to the banking sector.
For five years, Mr. Marcuta worked as the manager of the Savings Bank’s branch #12 in Nisporeni, and for two decades he ran Victoriabank’s branch #4 in the same city.
In 2011, and in 2015, Mr. Marcuta was elected as a member of the Nisporeni district council on behalf of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM). His sympathies for PDM were backed up by financial contributions: in 2014 he donated 20,000 lei to PDM’s campaign for the 30 November parliamentary polls.
He also tried his chances at the October 2019 local elections, winning a seat in the Nisporeni district council, which he later headed as its chairman.
In 2020, as PDM headed towards disintegration, he jumped aboard a newly-born Pro Moldova group. He supported ex-PDM and actual Pro Moldova leader Andrian Candu for the post of president of Moldova.
