With the status of a closed joint-stock company, Interdnestrcom (IDC) is the only fixed and mobile telephony operator and the main internet provider operating in the unrecognized Transnistrian Republic in eastern Moldova. It was founded in 1998 and its equity capital counted 888 billion Transnistrian rubles (about 1.6 million dollars at the time, which increased up to 4 million dollars in 2016).
IDC is part of the Sheriff holding, which brings together a number of companies active in most parts of Transnistrian economy - and is controlled by businessmen Victor Gusan and Ilya Kazmaly. In 2014 and 2015, IDC was the second-largest taxpayer in the breakaway enclave, being overtaken only by Sheriff SRL.
Since 2008, IDC’s acting executive manager is Serghei Ganja, who previously had run for eight years the Ukrainian company Intertelecom, founded by the same Gusan and Kazmaly as early as 1998. Before getting involved in the business, Ganja used to work as the director of Transnistria’s State Telecommunications Service.
