A trainer in martial arts, Nicolae Pascaru is a founder and chairman in a number of martial arts associations. A political activist and blogger, he’s earned a name in the nationalist-patriotic movement.

A member and deputy chairman of the Commission for Cults and Cultural Patrimony in the Presidential Administration since 2017.

In February 2019 Mr. Pascaru tried his chances to become an MP representing the Socialists but his name was too low in the list. The very next autumn he successfully competed for a seat in the Municipal Council of Chisinau but half a year later he resigned from the municipal legislature to replace Socialist Oleg Teterea in the Parliament. Mr. Teterea in turn resigned in favor of the top post in the state-controlled gas supplier Chisinau-Gaz SRL.

He remained out of office after the July 2021 elections when, although running on the electoral list of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists, he did not enter Parliament.

Later, the National Integrity Authority (ANI) determined that while serving as an MP, Pascaru continued to hold the position of president in several public associations, signing documents and making decisions on their behalf. Because he violated the legal regime of incompatibility, ANI’s ruling imposed a ban on holding public or official positions for three years, although he is still allowed to run in elections.

Although he challenged the ruling in court, the Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the National Integrity Authority.

In the 2025 parliamentary elections, he is running again, this time on the list of another party. He holds the third position on the list of the Alliance of Moldovans Party.

RISE Moldova revealed that Nicolae Pascaru registered in his name a building in Trebujeni, constructed with the help of volunteers and initially announced as a “Youth Center.” While he declared it as a residential house, an organization from Denmark was raising funds for completing the construction works.
