Trained as an accounting economist, Valeriu Ciorici’s career began during the Soviet era, in the collective farm Kutuzov. He also worked at a construction materials manufacturer in the town of
Rezina.

Between 1996 and 1998, he acted as a controller-inspector at the Finance and Revision Department
within the Ministry of Finance. In early 2000s, he administered for a short time the state-run Social Security Division in Rezina. Later he acted as a sub-prefect in Orhei.

After the administrative-territorial reform, which reversed the transition from districts to counties, he took part in the local elections in 2003 as part of the team of the Moldovan Communists Party (PCRM), getting promoted to the chairmanship of the Rezina district council. He worked in that position until 2011.

After the local elections on 5 June 2011, he was re-elected as a member of the Rezina district
council from PCRM, and until 2013 he held the office of deputy chairman of that district. From 2015, he exerted a councilor’s mandate as a Socialist.

During the February 2019 parliamentary polls, he competed as a Socialist in the Rezina constituency #13, conceding victory to Democrat Eleonora Graur, who grabbed around 6,000 votes more than her opponent.

The autumn 2019 local elections pushed him into the office of chairman of Rezina District.
