Victor Micu studied law at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iași, Romania, he began his career in 1994 as a lecturer at the Criminal Law Department of the Moldovan Free International University. He also worked as a senior consultant at the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) and in 1998 he earned his appointment at the Riscani Districtual Court in Chisinau; he worked there until 2014 - as a judge, deputy chair, chairman, and acting chairman of this institution.

In 2014, the general assembly of judges elected Mr. Micu as a member of the High Council of Magistrates (CSM) and months later he was elected as CSM’s chairman; in January 2018 he survived re-election for a new term.

CSM sacked Mr. Micu in July 2019, when the Democrats-controlled government conceded defeat to a new alliance, over what was described as “failure to take action for the reformation of the judiciary system” and absenteeism at the workplace.

Although he lost the post of CSM chairman he remained a member of the CSM board and continued acting as a judge at the Supreme Court of Justice (since July 2017).
