Maria Ghervas’ career of magistrate began at the Botanica District Court in Chisinau in 1987, three years after her graduation from the Law Department. Her experience in the field however had started long before her graduation. She first worked as a registrar at the Riscani District Court and later as a consultant at the Supreme Court of the Soviet Moldovan Republic.
In 2002, after about 15 years of work at the Botanica District Court, Mrs Ghervas took over as the chairwoman of this institution. In 2014 the Parliament appointed her as a judge in the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ).
The magistrate has been married to prosecutor Iurie Ghervas who since 2016 represents the Prosecutor-General’s Office at CSJ. The couple owns a house of more than 160 square meters, an apartment, and two garages, as well as shares in several firms.
