Her debut in politics occurred in December 2015, when she was elected as leader of the Dignity and Truth (DA) Platform’s branch in the city of Balti. Three years later she competed for the post of mayor and emerged third with 6.12% of votes, behind Socialist Alexandr Usatii (19.17%) and Nicolai Grigorisin (61.74%) of Our Party.

At the 24 February 2019 parliamentary elections Alina Spataru competed in the uninominal constituency #10 Balti, on behalf of ACUM bloc (DA + Action and Solidarity Party). This time over again she lost to her rivals from the Socialists and Our Party, but she made her way into the Parliament thanks to the party list mechanism; she was 19th on the list.

On 17 September 2019 Mrs. Spataru quit from the standing political bureau of DA over disagreement regarding the criteria for selection of ACUM candidates for the local elections of 20 October 2019.

Arina Spataru graduated from the Light Industry College in 1998 as a fashion designer and then earned a license in economics at the Transnistrian Institute of Economy and Law. In 2018 she took a master in real sciences, economics, and environment at the Alecu Russo State University in Balti, where she studied industrial technologies. Meanwhile she founded a tailor’s shop that later turned into a firm caled Arina - S SRL. As she entered the public service she appointed her husband, Anatolie Spataru, a priest in Balti, to run the business.
