Domnica Manole got employed as a consultant in Soviet Moldova’s Supreme Court. Later she got appointed as a judge in the Chisinau Court and in 2004 she took a job in the Court of Appeal, where she worked until July 2017, when she was dismissed from service.

In 2008, during the presidency of Vladimir Voronin, she was filmed by a ProTV crew while being engaged in a discussion with Eduard Muşuc, then president of the Chisinau Municipal Council. Mrs. Manole was advising Mr. Mușuc how to conduct himself at a lawsuit in order to win the case. The High Council of Magistrates found that the judge broke the ethics code and issued the lightest punishment - a warning.

In February 2015 the National Integrity Authority also detected that the judge had failed to disclose information about her husband’s shares in two firms, revenues from the sale of two vehicles and a garage, and two bank accounts. Mrs. Manole explained that “a mistake” kept her from filing a proper revenue & property statement.

In April 2016, as a judge at the Court of Appeals she outlawed a decision by the Central Election Commission (CEC) and obliged it to organize a nationwide referendum - an initiative of the Dignity and Truth Platform (DA) - about giving back the power to elect the president of Moldova to the people. A week later the Supreme Court of Justice declared null and void her ruling and restored instead CEC’s decision. Prosecutors filed charges on Manole’s name, citing “the knowingly pronouncement of an illegal ruling.” The High Council of Magistrates intervened in July 2017 by stripping Mrs. Manole of her judge status. The same month President Igor Dodon fired Domnica Manole from the judiciary service.

At the February 2019 parliamentary elections Domnica Manole ran for a legislative seat on behalf of the ACUM bloc (DA + the Action and Solidarity Party) in the constituency #40 Cimislia, but she lost the race to her rival Dumitru Diacov, a Democrat. Her name in the ACUM electoral list was on the 29th line, therefore she didn’t get a ticket for the Parliament. However, in August 2019 ACUM and the Socialists formed an alliance to take control of the government and Mrs. Manole earned her appointment in the Constitutional Court (CC), taking back her professional status. The prosecutors meanwhile dropped the charges and closed the case against Domnica Manole.

In April 2020, Domnica Manole was elected president of the Constitutional Court for a term of 3 years, following dismissal of former president, the socialist Vladimir Țurcan, in a no confidence vote given by the CC judges.
