A law and economics graduate, Ghenadi Mitriuc enters the public administration in 2003, the year he earned a seat in the Ungheni town council as an independent competitor. He kept the seat of councilor in the 2007 local elections, again as an independent. The same year he chose to move onto an executive office, as a deputy to the mayor of Ungheni.

Two years later, Mr. Mitriuc tried his luck in the parliamentary elections as part of the team of the center-right Our Moldova Alliance, with no success.

At the next local elections, in June 2011, he won another mandate in the town council of Ungheni, this time in the team of the Moldovan Liberal Democratic Party. He dropped the mandate in January 2011 due to his election as a member of Parliament on behalf of the Socialists Party (PSRM).

During the four years of his tenure of office in the Parliament, Mr. Mitriuc advanced not one legislative initiative and submitted not one report. He had one speech, asked three questions, and signed three draft laws as a co-author.

At the February 2019 parliamentary elections, Ghenadi Mitriuc fought to represent the Constituency #16 Ungheni as a Socialist, but he lost to his rival Ludmila Guzun from the Moldovan Democratic Party.

At the local elections in October 2019, he ran as a PSRM candidate for a seat in the Ungheni district council, winning a mandate, and in November he was elected as the chairman of Ungheni District.
