Luiza Gafton kicked off her career as a magistrate in 1991, at the Botanica District Court in Chisinau. After 13 years of work there she got promoted to the chairwoman of this institution.
In January 2017 President Igor Dodon moved Mrs. Gafton to the post of deputy chairwoman of the Chisinau Court. In May 2017 Luiza Gafton obtained a judge’s seat in the Supreme Court of Justice, on a ticket signed by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu.
In 2018, Luiza Gafton was elected as a member of the High Council of Magistrates, taking the place of outgoing Alexandru Gheorghieș, for a mandate that ends in 2022. In January 2020 she took over the interim chairmanship at the High Council of Magistrates.
