Date of Founding: 09.09.2010
It was registered in September 2010. At that time it was held by Trade Invest System, a Belize offshore. In 2011 a Bahamas-based company got into Sigmateli shareholding. The true end beneficiaries hid themselves behind a number of firms and interposed individuals from Cyprus.
In 2018 Sigmateli was officially controlled by Axecorp Trading. According to the Cypriot business register, the final beneficiary’s name was Oxana Childescu, a former spouse of oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc. Sigmateli had been connected to Mr. Plahotniuc since the day of founding. In 2010-11 he lent 20 million euros to the firm; this sum was never reflected in his revenue statements at that time.
At the same time, Sigmateli is run by C.Argyrou & Associates Secretarial, a Cypriot law firm that handles a number of Plahotniuc-linked firms. Among them, Asirapal Enterprises and Finpar Victoria – the current and former associat in Finpar Invest. The latter is the oldest family business of Mr. Plahotniuc in Moldova. Another affiliate is Investar Investments, which in spring 2017 acquired a luxury villa of more than 2,000 square meters in the Moldovan capital. The Cypriot firm was then represented by Iurii Luncașu, a controversial businessman affiliated to the oligarch.
In June 2011 Sigmateli Ltd. acquired a villa in Sciez, a town in France. Between 2008 and 2011 the names of the house’s owners were Vladimir Plahotniuc and Oxana Childescu. Also in France Sigmateli acquired a large cabana at the bottom of the Mount Blanc. When the firm obtained the permission for renovation, it was Andrian Candu, later the speaker of the Moldovan Parliament, who represented the owner before French authorities.
Sigmateli Ltd. also holds a villa in the Pipera residential area in the north of the Romanian capital. Mr. Plahotniuc was the immediate owner on papers before jumping onto political business in Moldova.
