It is a travel and cargo company founded in 2008 by Natalia Begu. In February 2011, Begu sold her business to Carolina Babii and Alina Nistor, fifty-fifty. Five months later, in July, the Customs Service (SV) launched a probe into Ednateric-Trans’ suspected involvement in cigarette smuggling and terminated the investigation in November of that year. Meanwhile, the company has returned to its founder, Natalia Begu.
In 2012, Ednateric-Trans again fell under the scrutiny of law enforcement agencies. SV and the Information and Security Service (SIS) notified the Ministry of Transportation and Road Infrastructure (MTID) that Ednateric-Trans, which shuttled between Chisinau and Plzen in the Czech Republic, was caught in “repeated cases” of cigarette smuggling. In turn, MTID withdraws the company's license for this route while Ednateric-Trans challenged this decision in court. At one point in the deliberations Katev Travel & Commercial, a partner company in the Czech Republic, joined the lawsuit. In May 2013, the Buiucani District Court awarded victory to Ednateric-Trans - and the higher courts maintained this ruling - therefore Ednateric-Trans and Katev Travel & Commercial continued their shuttle operations.
In 2015, the Competition Council found that between November 2009 and August 2011, Ednateric-Trans charged different prices for the Chisinau - Plzen route. If the first tickets to Prague cost 80 euros, later the price dropped to 50 euros, while other times the company charged 60 euros per passenger, though MTID would not approve lower prices. The Competition Council concluded that Ednateric-Trans broke the law in order to take advantage over its competitors.
Ednateric-Trans captured the public attention in April 2020 when Moldova shut down its businesses and institutions over the Covid-19 pandemic and closed its borders. Along with two affiliated companies - Transeric Tur SRL and Katev Travel - Ednateric-Trans illegally repatriated hundreds of Moldovan citizens, attracting formal warnings from the National Motor Transportation Agency.
According to official statistics, in 2016 and 2017 Ednateric-Trans earned almost 5 million lei and in 2018 it posted 977,000 lei in losses.
