 Igor Munteanu
 politician
Date of Birth: 10.08.1965
Place of Birth: Costuleni village, Ungheni district
Citizenship: Republic of Moldova
Igor Munteanu is the founder of the “Viitorul” Institute for Development and Social Initiatives, an independent think tank that combines social, economic and political research with advocacy. He served the institution for more than 15 years as its executive director. He departed from this institution in 2010 when the Government led by Liberal-Democrat Vladimir Filat appointed him as ambassador to the United States, and later to Canada, Mexico and Brazil, too. Mr. Munteanu was recalled from his mission to Mexico in 2013, and from the missions to the US, Canada and Brazil in 2015, during the premiership of Chiril Gaburici.

Mr. Munteanu ran for a seat in Parliament in the February 2019 elections on behalf of the ACUM bloc in the constituency №15 Calarasi. He lost the competition to Democrat Nicolae Ciubuc, but still won a seat as part of the ACUM national list where he was secured the fifth spot.

At the early parliamentary elections on July 11, 2021, he ran on the list of the Truth and Justice Platform. However, the party did not obtain the necessary number of votes to enter Parliament.

In 2022, he was elected president of the Coalition for Unity and Prosperity Party (CUB), a recently created formation. In the 2024 presidential election, Munteanu was nominated as the presidential candidate from CUB, but he was not registered in the electoral race because he failed to collect enough valid signatures.
