Before getting involved in politics Marina Tauber had mastered the Moldovan Tennis Federation for six years. She also ventured in financial combinations; at the age of 26 Miss Tauber was already used to move millions between bank accounts involved in money laundering operations. Miss Tauber also had a role in the 2014 fraud that has stripped three banks out of one billion US dollars.
Marina Tauber’s name appears in the Kroll Investigation Report as a recipient of three wire transfers totaling 17.9 million lei. The money was formally given as loans which Miss Tauber used to buy in 2012 a share of 4,6% in Unibank. This is one of the three banks used for withdrawal (theft) of one billion dollars in offshore jurisdictions.
As the scandal around the fraud inflated, Miss Tauber found shelter in politics thanks to her excellent relations with the Shor Party where she rose to deputy chairwoman. In May 2018 Marina Tauber was elected mayor of Jora de Mijloc – a rural commune in Orhei District – and in February 2019 she won a parliament seat in the uninominal constituency № 19 Ivancea, which includes Jora de Mijloc.
