Dan Perciun entered political life in 2016 as a member of the standing office of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) led by Maia Sandu, a former education minister. In 2017 he was elected deputy chairman of the party.

A RISE Moldova investigation has revealed that in 2017 the police intercepted the phone conversations of Dan Perciun and other opposition politicials in an official dossier filed for “mass disorders”. Prosecutors also demanded a visual surveillance of Mr. Perciun and installation of hidden cameras in his apartment, on the ground that it was used to plan offences.

In the parliamentary elections on 24 February 2019 Mr. Perciun won a majority of votes in the uninominal constituency № 30 Chișinău, on behalf of ACUM bloc made of PAS and the Dignity and Truth Platform. Before embracing politics, Dan Perciun had worked as a department chief for e-transformation at the Education Ministry at the time Maia Sandu was in charge there. In his CV Mr. Perciun also credits himself for attracting projects worth more than 300,000 euros while working at the Education Ministry.

Dan Perciun is the four-times silver champion in chess. He has studied in the United Kingdom and holds a license in Political Sciences, Psychology, and Sociology from Cambridge University. In the UK he also acted as a deputy chairman of the British Association of Moldovans.
