Aureliu Ciocoi is a career diplomat and like other members of the Chicu cabinet he had been part of President Igor Dodon’s adviser team. Yet Mr. Ciocoi had started as a journalist in the late 1980s - early 1990s, working for several newspapers including the parliament gazette „Sfatul Tarii”.

In March 1996 Aureliu Ciocoi joined the public service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in the first half of 2000 he walked upstairs along diplomatic ranks: from a secretary at the Moldovan Embassy to Germany to the ambassador in the federal republic, and he served as Moldova’s ambassador in China and the US, and later as a special missions envoy.

In summer of 2018 Mr. Ciocoi became a presidential adviser for foreign policy and in November 2019 he took over as the minister of foreign affairs and European integration.
