Upon graduation from the „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” Police Academy in Bucharest, Romania, Vadim Cojocaru got hired as an inspector at the Police General Commissariat in Chisinau, Moldova. In 2004 he was appointed the chief of the Crime Police Section, and later the chief of the Police Commissariat in Botanica District of the capital.

In 2007 Mr. Cojocaru was promoted to the deputy director-general of the Penitentiary Department and in 2009 he took over the top job in this institution. In 2011 Vadim Cojocaru retired from the police service and accepted to act as an adviser on security and public order for the capital’s mayor Dorin Chirtoacă.

In April 2013 Mr. Cojocaru was appointed the deputy director of the National Anticorruption Center (CNA). In March 2018, just three weeks before his term in office was due to end, Vadim Cojocaru unexpectedly resigned from his post without a clear explanation of this decision. He became a lawyer and in November 2019 he was called back in public service as the head of the Police Inspectorate-General.

Hunting and arms collection are Mr. Cojocaru’s hobbies.
