Mr. Ichim is a historian by profession and has been active in the Cantemir District Council since 2007. Back then he obtained for the first time the mandate of district councilor, a position for which he ran on the list of the Party of Communists of Republic of Moldova. In the 2011 election, Ichim ran again on the PCRM list and was soon elected deputy president of the Cantemir District Council.
In the 2015 local elections, he changed the party, running on the list of the Party of Socialists from Republic of Moldova (PSRM). He also secured a term as a councilor after the local elections in autumn 2019, when he was elected president of the Cantemir District Council.
Ichim has been submitting wealth declarations to the National Integrity Authority since 2012. Annually, the politician declares income of tens of thousands of lei only from interest. In his wealth declaration for 2020, Anatoli Ichim indicates over 1.2 million lei, money he holds in several bank accounts.
