A member of Parliament at the age of 24. This is his first official employment. Dinu Plingau walked in Parliament with no properties and zero official revenues. Before getting there, he had studied law and performed activities related to promotion of democracy and human rights. In 2014 he founded the Moldovan Youth Civic Movement, a nonprofit. In 2015 it staged a march to protest the bank fraud.
The same year Mr. Plingau joined the street demonstration under the umbrella of the Dignity and Truth Platform (DA) and when the latter received its registration paper as a political party he obtained a member’s card. In September 2017 he was elected chairman of DA’s youth wing.
A RISE Moldova investigation has revealed that in 2017 the police intercepted the phone conversations of Dinu Plingau along with other politicials and journalists in an official dossier filed for “mass disorders”. The authorities turned an eye on him after his participation in mass protests over the hasty change of the electoral system (from proportional to mixed).
In the parliamentary elections from 24 February 2019 Dinu Plingau competed both in the nationwide constituency and in the uninominal constituency №3 Edineț. He represented ACUM bloc of DA and the Action and Solidarity Party. He lost in Edinet to a Democratic opponent but got a ticket for Parliament on the party list.
Dinu Plingau’s mother works as a senior inspector at the Edinet Tax Inspection. His father has retired; in the past he had worked for what today is called the National Anticorruption Center.
