Country: Romania, city of Iasi
IDNO: 1958150
It is a Romanian company of the former Moldovan Prime Minister Vladimir Filat, who in 2017 was convicted to a lengthy prison term for acts of corruption.

Before taking its current name, Kapital Invest Company was called the Dosoftei Joint Stock Company and it was controlled by the Romanian state. Founded in 1991 mainly as a printing enterprise, Dosoftei one year later turned into a department store that used to sell anything from food to appliances.

In 1994, its equity capital increased and split 70% for the Romanian State Property Fund and 30% for the Moldova Private Property Fund Moldova - meaning the Romanian part of Moldova.

The shareholder structure changed again in 1997 when Romold Trading SA - from the country Moldova - acquired 23.66% of shares. Romold Trading SA was controlled by Vladimir Filat as a Moldovan national.

Three months later, Mr. Filat was elected the chairman of Dosoftei’s management board and his Moldovan firm consolidated its equity share up to 66.32%. In two more months, Romold Trading got to own 90.46% in the Romanian enterprise.

In 2000 Dosoftei absorbed Romold Trading and the new shares got split between Vladimir Filat and his spouse at that time Nadejda Filat (today she is Sanda Diviricean). At the same time his brother-in-law Ion Rusu was appointed the chairman of the Dosoftei management board.

It was in 2005 when Dosoftei changed its name to Kapital Invest Company, with Mr. Filat in possession of a 95,37% share and his spouse getting less than 0.5%.

After Vladimir Filat’s arrest in 2015 on charges of corruption and abuse of office, Nadejda Filat - who had already divorced the prime minister in 2012 and changed her name to Sanda Divircean - filed a property claim lawsuit. She persuaded the court to award her control of 48.445% of shares in Kapital Invest Company, leaving a similar share to his ex-husband.

Kapital Invest Company deals with the rental and sub-rent of office and commercial space, according to the Romanian Trades Register. In 2019 it reported a net profit of 181,388 Romanian lei (RON), which is about 730,000 Moldovan lei (MDL). For the previous year, it posted 9.4 million RON in profit.

In Chisinau, Kapital Invest Company owns 49.63% of IPTEH SA, a firm that manages an office building (8,400 squarer meters) in the city center.

When Mr. Filat went to prison for corruption, both Kapital Invest Company and Ipteh fell into the hands of the government, which confiscated the two assets.
